Produced at the Plough…
The Plough at Stalisfield Green is an award-winning pub that’s passionate about using locally sourced meat, fish and vegetables.
alexandrapatrick was on hand to see quite how local. Since taking over The Plough at Stalisfield Green with his wife Amy, Robert Lloyd has gone about developing and nurturing a network of local suppliers who all share his passion for producing great quality, delicious food. His meat comes from within three miles of the pub.
The pigs he uses are a traditional breed and spend their days literally wallowing in the mud — the way pigs should! Fish is landed on the Kent coast, bread is home-baked and vegetables are all seasonal (no African mange-tout here!).
And nothing goes to waste — Robert and his talented kitchen staff make their own sausages, cure their own bacon and even make the pork scratchings that complement the locally produced ales and ciders. It’s no wonder The Plough was acclaimed by Produced in Kent as “Pub of the year” in 2008.
When Robert wanted some images of nearby farmers out in the field with their livestock and then of their meat cooked and beautifully presented on the plate, it was no surprise that he turned to local firm alexandrapatrick and renowned food photographer, Duncan Callow.
Robert said; “It’s important for our customers to see the faces behind the food they eat and to recognise just how local it is. Duncan was able to get in amongst the cattle and the pigs and shoot some terrific images. I’m delighted with what he’s achieved for us.”
