Mental Health Useful Resources

Mental Health First Aider Logo to promote Mental Health Services in Kent

I’m proud to be a certified Mental Health First Aider. As an EMCC-accredited coach, I didn’t need to take this step, but I chose to. Why? Because in person-centred coaching, the issue a client presents isn’t always the full story. Often, there are deeper emotional layers, and sometimes these involve mental health challenges.

Why Mental Health Matters

Poor mental health is when the way we think, feel, or act makes day-to-day life harder. It’s more common than we might think — 1 in 4 people experience mental health problems every year. In the workplace alone, poor mental health leads to the loss of 72 million working days annually.

But this isn’t just about numbers. It’s about people — many struggling in silence. Through my Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) training, I’m equipped to:

  • Approach the person and assist
  • Listen with empathy
  • Give confidential help and information
  • Encourage appropriate professional help
  • Encourage other support for self-care
